“Five years after the setting up of the Carmona e Costa Foundation, it gives me very great pleasure to see the publication of the first in a series of catalogues designed to accompany its collection. My interest in Chinese porcelain, like in many other objects that I have collected, and continue to collect, dates back to my youth. Though my upbringing and family life I have always felt that the history of our native land has a tremendous effect on our lives and can give meaning and committing to everything we do.
