A very large Chinese famille verte dish decorated with mythological animals and landscape. Kangxi period.

Painted to the central medallion with a pair of ducks in a garden with pomegranate and peony, surrounded by radiating shaped panels of a qilin, a phoenix, a river-landscape and flower-vases, alternate with panels of flowering gardens, all below panels of stylised flowerheads reserved on a diaper-pattern band at the rim, the base marked with artemisia leaf.
