A Japanese sometsuké crane shaped dish. Edo period.
The dish has moulded relief decoration in the form of a crane with outstretched wings which is decorated in blue and white, red and gilt.

A dish of this design, polychrome and from the begining of the 18th century, is held on at the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford, and is illustrated in Japanese export porcelain, catalogue of the collection of the Ashmolean Museum (Oliver Impey, 2002, p. 242, pl. 426).
